Interview #3

Interviewee – Ava Cresta
Age – 28 Months (2yrs 4mths)
Date – January 21st 2009
Location – Bath Time
Interviewer – Momma
Momma- Can Momma ask you some questions?
Ava- Okay
Momma –Do you know your name?
Ava- Yes, Ava.
Momma – YES. What are you doing right now?
Ava- Baaathhhh
Momma – Whats that? As I point at the washcloth in her hands
Ava- Ava keeps her head down and looks at me with the death stare, her eyebrows scrunched forward squeezing the shit out of the wash cloth says very slowly UNDER WADER *Must be the Italian coming out in her, cause if that washcloth had been alive it would have been swimming with the fish after Ava man handled it!
Momma – Ahh…where are you going tomorrow?
Ava- GiGi’s
Momma – Who are you gonna see?
Ava- Me, pointing towards herself!
Momma – Who else?
Ava- Uncle Meats
Momma – and?
Ava- KoKo
Momma – Umm, I don’t think Koko will be there!
Ava- looks up at me, wide eyed and says Oh NO?
Momma – So what did you eat for Lunch today?
Ava- Dunno
Momma – Who’s your best friend?
Ava- Kaylee…KAYLEE
Ava- Me have it? Me have it? Asking for a toy from the bin of bath toys.
Momma – Sure…..ahh you have it up side down
Ava- OKAY!
*before asking my next question I reached in the water and pulled out a flute, that fills with water to make different sound, I took a deep breath and let it rip.
Ava- STOP extending her arm waving it at me…CUT IT OUT!
Momma – Did she just tell me to cut it out? I holler for her Daddy and when he comes in I said “Your daughter just old me to CUT IT OUT!” His eyes widen, laughs and I say “where did she learn that?” *half laughing* he replys “JOEY” and walks away…
Ava- takes a small toy fishing pole holding it to her mouth, pretends to whistle and laughs saying I Miss.Hannigan….I love u Hannigan continues to crack herself up.
*Not only has my child now told me to CUT IT OUT but now she is impersonating a drunk from the movie Annie…it was pretty cute though.
Momma – Miss Magoo I think its time to get out of the bath, what do you think?

Age – 27 Months (2yrs 3mths)
Date – January 13th 2009
Location – Ava’s Bedroom
Interviewer – Momma

Momma – What did you and Daddy do today?
Ava – I dunno…long pause….I…I.. played outside.
Momma-Did you have fun playing outside?
Ava – it fun.
Momma- Did you talk on the phone today?
Ava - Yeah, I talked ta Nono (which means Grandpa, but she means to say Nonna) Elgin talked on da phone….pauses…my sussy tastes funny! I spit? Momma – NO, no spitting!
Momma –Do you pee in the potty?
Ava- Yea
Momma- Did you watch a movie today?
Ava- Shera
Momma – Anything else?
Ava-SSSSSHHHHEERRRAAAA
Momma-What toys did you play with today?
Ava- Ma babies
Momma - What about your Annie toys? I think I seen you playing with them at the table.
Ava- Uh-huh..Ms.Hannigan
Momma – Anyone else?
Ava- Daddy Warabucks
Momma- Did you wear underwear today?
Ava- Whats that?
Momma – My bra strap
Ava- Whats that?
Momma – My eyebrow
Ava- Whats that?
Momma – Your Forehead.You know that!
Ava- PEN? I help…I Help…grabs the end of the pen and starts making cirlce motions as I am trying to write, then leans in and plants a smooch on my cheek. (awe)
Momma- Ava what are you plans for tomorrow, what do you want to do?Ava- I watch Stesem-Steat.
Momma – Pardon?
Ava- Stesem-Steat, Stesem-Steat, I..I..watch Stesem-Steat
Momma- OHHH Sesame Street, you like Sesame Street huh! Whats Momma going to do tomorrow?
Ava- Dunno -shrugs shoulders- go ta work
Momma – Should we read a story now?
Ava- No

Momma – How about a story from your Fairytale book?
Ava- Yes

Interview #1

So for a while now, for a long while actually I have been thinking about how I need to be writing about Ava and how she is growing and changing, something I can do for her so when she’s older she can look back on and enjoy. I can say I’m not a fan of journaling in general. I find it extremely hard to make time, I know that sounds ridiculous, but I would be spending a stupid amount of time deciding what I should write, how I should write it, does this sound good or does that sound better? I mean I am the type of person that if I am writing in pen and make a mistake I can’t just cross it out and continue on, NO, I have to re-write it all. (OCD?) So with that said I frequently read mommy blogs and there is one that particularly like and I feel I can relate too. It’s http://www.girlsgonechild.net/ by Rebecca Woolf. Now just the other day I read one of her entries and she had an interview with her son. I thought that is a great idea. I could do that! Say once a week, ask Ava some questions and jot the interview down. That’s really straight forward, Easy Peasy! The beauty of it is that there is nothing for me to decide or change, I mean I’m already having these types of conversations with Ava so why not just write them down, and who knows maybe once in a while I’ll add in some cute story at the end if I have the time, and at least I will have something to give her, that will show her who she was at 2 or 3 or 5. So the other night Ava and I had our first ‘interview”

Ava-shrugs shoulders, mumbles something that sounds like snowman and two other words that I have never heard before!
Momma- Okay then!

Ava- MILK
Momma - What is your favourite movie?
Ava- Dunno shrugs shoulders, ….ANNIE!
Momma - What is your Daddy’s name?
Ava- Carlo
Momma- What is your Momma’s name?
Ava- DI
Momma - What is your doggie’s name?
Ava- Bippy
Momma - Whose house did you go to today?
Ava- Dunno shrugs shoulders,Momma’s house?…Christine’s house!
Momma – That’s right.
Momma- Who did you play with today?
Ava- Kaylee….MY baby!
Momma-OH, did Kaylee want to play with your baby?
Ava- Yeah. Whining

Ava- HAPPY NEW YEAR

Ava- Nope….I got a napkin! Ava laying on me belly!Stretching across the table to reach the reindeer napkins that are left over from Christmas.
Momma - Can you say you’re A.B.C`s?
Ava- Ummm…Nope.
